Rogue Factor has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Hell is Us, their upcoming open world action adventure game with Souls-like elements. Scheduled for release on September 4, 2025, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Set in the war-torn nation of Hadea, players will navigate through a grim and chaotic landscape using melee weapons and a drone to fend off terrifying monsters. While reminiscent of Souls-like games, Rogue Factor prefers to distance themselves from that genre label.
This latest gameplay trailer showcases the exploration aspect of the game, emphasizing a return to the freeform game design of the 90s without the reliance on waypoints or quest markers. The world of Hell is Us encourages players to discover locations organically without being spoon-fed directions.
In the video, players are shown exploring a destroyed village, their character’s childhood home, in search of the blacksmith. By interacting with NPCs and finding clues, players uncover side content and secrets such as locked chests, computer terminals, and more.
Players will have a tablet to keep track of missions and hints, with main quests being straightforward while side quests present more challenging tasks. Combat in the game is described as “midcore,” offering a balance between action RPG and third-person gameplay. The drone companion provides support in crowd control and tech abilities, complementing the magical melee weapon wielded by the player.
