- Flip 7 survives bend test
- Also subjected to dust and scratch tests
- Inner display as soft as ever
Samsung’s latest compact foldable flagship phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, has undergone a well-known torture test – and has performed admirably.
YouTuber JerryRigEverything is renowned for subjecting the newest smartphones to deliberate scratch, bend, and impact tests. After testing the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is now under scrutiny.
The standout result is the Flip 7’s reinforced Armour FlexHinge, which withstands three deliberate attempts to bend it in the ‘wrong’ direction with only a few concerning ‘pops’ to show for it.
Both the thinner Fold 7 and the thicker Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 also survived this bend test, so the positive outcome is not entirely unexpected.
This positive result aligns with our own hands-on experience with the phone. In his review of the Flip 7, Anyron mentioned: “I also really appreciate how robust the aluminum hinge feels.
“I haven’t been particularly gentle when opening and closing it to simulate long-term usage, but it has shown no signs of weakness whatsoever.”

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 sand and scratch tests
On other fronts, the Flip 7 showed some resilience, though it remained relatively sturdy. We observed in our review that the Flip 7 is still susceptible to small particles despite its IP48 rating, and the video demonstrates this.
Applying sand to the back of the phone and operating the hinge resulted in some unpleasant grinding sounds, but the Flip 7 appeared to remain functional.
The fragile cover display endured similar scratching levels as the main displays of most modern non-foldable flagship phones, which is a positive outcome.
However, the most vulnerable component remains the soft internal display, which easily picks up scratches with minimal pressure from the tester’s fingernail. This is a known issue with all foldable devices at this point, but it’s worth highlighting.
