Despite not receiving much attention at recent events like Unpacked and Google I/O, Samsung has confirmed that its Android XR-based mixed reality headset is still on track for release later this year.
In a recent earnings call, Samsung announced that its upcoming XR headset, known as ‘Project Moohan’, is still in development. However, details such as the official name, launch date, and price remain undisclosed.
“Meanwhile, we are also preparing to introduce next-generation innovative products, including our XR headset and TriFold smartphone this year,” stated Daniel Araujo from the company’s ‘MX’ mobile division during the Q2 2025 earnings call.

Despite some reticence from Samsung to showcase Project Moohan, the headset has been demonstrated to select audiences. However, its absence from major events like Samsung Unpacked raises some concerns about the company’s marketing strategy.
While specific details about the launch date and pricing of Project Moohan are still unknown, here are some key features that have been revealed:
Project Moohan will run on Android XR powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 + Gen 2. It will feature Sony-sourced micro-OLED panels, slimming pancake lenses, automatic IPD adjustment, eye and hand-tracking support, optional magnetically-attached light shield, and a removable external battery pack. The headset is also expected to support VR motion controllers, although details about them are scarce.
