Sable creative director’s new studio Eteo are aiming to release their first game in 2027, and have a newsletter starting next year

Introducing Eteo: A New Studio by Gregorios Kythreotis

Gregorios Kythreotis, the creative director of the sci-fi hoverbike adventure Sable, has embarked on a new journey with the launch of Eteo, a fresh game development studio. Eteo’s mission is to release their debut game in 2027, promising vibrant game worlds with a mischievous twist. The studio has secured funding from Outersloth, the indie game fund backed by Among Us developers Innersloth, for their upcoming project.

In a recent studio announcement video, Kythreotis reflects on his journey from studying architecture to founding Sable studio Shedworks. With the success of Sable, Eteo represents the next chapter in his creative exploration, focusing on personal projects that continue the legacy of world-building and storytelling in engaging games.

Starting in January 2026, Eteo will launch Archetypes, a free monthly newsletter exploring the unsung aspects of video game design. Each issue will delve into themes relevant to Eteo’s design philosophies, with the first month’s theme being “Flying Cities”. Contributors include Citizen Sleeper creator Gareth Damian Martin, Eteo Community Manager Emma Kent, and RPS contributor Christian Donlan.

If you’re eager to dive into Archetypes, you can sign up to receive the newsletter on Eteo’s website. In the meantime, revisit former RPSer Alice B’s review of Sable to relive the magic.
