S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's first big patch is out with 650 fixes for crashes, progress blocks, physics and AI bugs

Have you been experiencing strange occurrences in your Zone lately? Are corpses defying gravity, comrades with questionable dental hygiene, or parts of your HUD mysteriously vanishing? Don’t fret, as GSC Game World has just released the latest update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornbyl, addressing over 650 bugs and issues. These range from major issues like crashes and mission blockers to minor issues like NPC voice volume inconsistencies during storms.

The update includes adjustments to NPC AI, with the developers acknowledging ongoing work to resolve A-Life bugs in future patches. A-Life refers to the game’s NPC life simulation, where factions and mutants interact without player intervention. Despite some players doubting its functionality, the developers are committed to improving it.

In addition to bug fixes, the update also rebalances the game by reducing enemy HP, enhancing limb shot damage, and adjusting weapon and armor pricing and repair costs.

You can view a partial list of changes on the Steam post. To highlight some peculiar fixes from the changelog, here are a few standout points:

  • Fixed stretched or missing limbs on humanoid corpses.
  • Addressed physics issues with floating objects.
  • Added missing footage to TV displays in the final cutscene.
  • Resolved combat music playing after combat ended.
  • Fixed NPCs moving to A-pose or flying after death.
  • Corrected NPC shooting into cover due to target tracking issues.
  • Fixed bug allowing players to sell items for more than their value.
  • Addressed Burer dropping mission items out of player’s hands.
