Review: This MagSafe battery pack replaced multiple chargers for me [Video]

I have tried out many MagSafe battery packs over the years, from slim ones to chunky ones, low-capacity chargers to full-on power bricks that aim to replace everything at once. Most of the battery packs I test are decent; they get the job done. However, the Kuxiu S3 10,000mAh battery pack strikes a perfect balance of simplicity, versatility, and, most importantly, reliability. Here is what you need to know about their brand-new solid-state battery pack.

Watch the hands-on video below:

Solid-state batteries

Before diving into the review, it’s important to discuss solid-state batteries. Brands and manufacturers are gradually shifting to solid-state batteries for several reasons. They offer:

  • Better efficiency
  • Enhanced safety
  • Reduced heat buildup during charging
  • Significantly lighter compared to older battery technology with the same capacity

I liken this battery transition to that of storage. Just as we transitioned from spinning disk hard drives to SSDs (Solid State Drives) for improved reliability and performance, solid-state batteries represent a similar advancement in battery technology. They excel in almost every aspect.

Now that we understand the advantages of solid-state batteries, let’s delve into this new MagSafe battery pack.

I am a proponent of tech accessories that offer multiple functions, allowing you to maximize the value of a single product. This battery can perform a variety of tasks. But first, let’s take a look at the specifications:

  • 10,000mAh capacity
  • Qi2.2 25W wireless charging (for iPhone 16 or newer)
  • Qi2 15W wireless charging (For iPhone 15 and older)
  • Up to 35W wired via built-in USB-C cable
  • Wired + MagSafe simultaneously
  • Real-time LED display with percentage readout (0–100%)
  • Kickstand for viewing

As shown above, this versatility is particularly advantageous for someone like me, who uses their iPad Pro as their primary computer. Let me explain why that is significant.

My use cases

Firstly, this is a Qi2.2 25W charger. It will charge your iPhone 16 or newer (running iOS 26) at the fastest speeds possible. This is ideal for quickly charging up your iPhone. Additionally, being a large battery, it can charge your iPhone 17 Pro Max at least twice without any issues. I like to use this with my iPhone Air when I am on the go or taking a quick break to eat. I can charge at full speed and also prop it up with the kickstand to watch some content while enjoying my meal.

However, my second use case involves the built-in braided cable and wired charging. The cable is exceptionally well-built and of high quality. The best part is that it supports 35W charging speeds, allowing me to charge my iPad almost at full speed with the built-in wired connection. This is incredibly convenient when I am on the move. I can charge my iPad without any issues using the same battery that I use for my iPhone. If I want to, I can even charge both an iPhone via MagSafe and my iPad while wired in. It may slow down the charging slightly, but it’s still feasible! The added bonus is the built-in display that shows the remaining percentage.

Pricing & availability

The Kuxiu S3 is now available on Kuxiu’s website for just under $70. They are also offering holiday promotions, so you may be able to get it at a discounted price!

Final thoughts

This battery meets all the criteria I look for in a portable battery pack. I can use it in various ways with any of my devices. If desired, I could even charge my MacBook Air with this battery! If you’re in the market for a new MagSafe battery pack to take with you on the go, the Kuxiu S3 is definitely worth considering.
