Publisher Mega Cat Studios and ZPF Team Announce Retro Shoot ‘Em Up Game, ZPF
Publisher Mega Cat Studios and ZPF Team have joined forces to develop a true retro shoot ’em up game called ZPF, which is set to be released on modern consoles and the Sega Genesis.
ZPF is currently in development for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Windows PC (via Steam), and will also be available on both Xbox consoles and Switch following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign that exceeded its funding goal by over 1000%.
With funding secured, ZPF is scheduled for release in early 2025 for PC, Xbox consoles, Switch, and will even be available on physical cartridges compatible with original Sega Genesis/Mega Drive hardware. There is still an opportunity to support the game’s Kickstarter campaign to receive exclusive backer rewards.
About ZPF
ZPF is a retro-inspired horizontal shooter designed for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Players will navigate through a cosmic gauntlet filled with epic boss battles, addictive scoring mechanics, and hidden secrets across fantasy, sci-fi, and alien-themed worlds.
Developed by the creator of Super XYX and Tänzer, ZPF draws inspiration from classic horizontal shooters like Lords of Thunder, Elemental Master, and the Thunderforce series.
