Despite concerns from armchair lawyers and some actual lawyers about potential legal issues with Pokemon and Nintendo, PocketPair’s CEO has stated that the studio has not received any formal notice of planned legal action.

Back in January, when Palworld gained popularity, it faced accusations of similarities to Pokemon. The Pokemon Company even issued a statement promising to address any infringement on their intellectual property rights. However, PocketPair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed in an interview with Game File that they have not received any concrete legal communication from Nintendo or The Pokemon Company.

Mizobe mentioned that they have heard “nothing at all” from Nintendo or The Pokemon Company, indicating that Palworld may not be infringing on any Pokemon IP. This is a relief for the studio, especially considering Nintendo’s history of taking action against infringements.

In the interview, Mizobe also discussed the possibility of expanding Palworld to other platforms beyond Xbox and PC. While they are still considering it, the Nintendo Switch might not be feasible due to technical reasons. The game’s minimum requirements on PC exceed the Switch’s specs.

For those interested in Palworld, the Sakurajima Update is set to release on June 27, offering a reason to dive back into the game.
