One of the most popular BBC One series is Race Across the World, an epic adventure that sees pairs make their way through foreign lands with no smartphone and limited resources.
In 2024, the Celebrity spin-off series took viewers to South America, with four couples traversing from the Amazon in Brazil to the Andes in Chile. Earlier in the year, the main series visited Asia, with five pairs trying to make their way from Japan to Indonesia.
The show is a brilliant way to see parts of the world that may have not been on your radar before, and think about the best way you would tackle a race on a shoestring budget. But when will the BBC hit return? We’ve rounded up everything we know so far.

Is Race Across the World returning for season 5?
Good news – Race Across the World will be back! The show was renewed for another season, and applications opened earlier in 2024.
While you’ve missed the chance for this year’s televised adventure, applications for season 6 are live now, and we expect that series to air in 2026.

When will Race Across the World season 5 be released?
The first teaser for series 5 has circulated online and was picked up by TV Zone.
The video only says the new instalment of Race Across The World is ‘coming soon’, though the article from TV Zone claims that the show will be back in April 2025.
A spring release date is in line with our predictions, based on previous seasons. When we have an exact release date, we’ll update this article.
