Quest Gets Disney+ App With Downloads for Offline Viewing, But No 3D Movies Like Vision Pro

Disney+ has finally made its way to the Oculus Quest platform. While the arrival of the popular streaming service is a welcome addition, there are a few notable features that are currently missing.

Breaking News

The Horizon Store now boasts its own dedicated Disney+ app, compatible with Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S. Users can enjoy streaming the entire library of 2D content on their Quest devices, with the option to download for offline viewing.

Although most content is available in 1080p, the app also offers select titles in Dolby Vision 4K HDR exclusively on Quest 3/S (streaming only), along with a limited range of content from Hulu and ESPN.

However, there are a couple of limitations to be aware of. Currently, the app is only accessible in the US, with plans for international expansion in early 2026. Additionally, the app does not support streaming of 3D films, a feature that is available on the Apple Vision Pro app since its launch in 2024.

Disney has mentioned that all content is currently limited to 2D streaming on Quest devices, hinting at the possibility of 3D content being introduced in the future.

Notably, on Vision Pro, Disney+ subscribers can enjoy a range of recent blockbuster films such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers Endgame, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Frozen II, Star Wars Episode VII, and Encanto.

Personal Opinion

The absence of Disney’s 3D films on Quest raises questions about possible exclusivity deals with Apple or technical constraints related to the Vision Pro format. Regardless of the reason, Disney’s decision to bring its app to Quest at this time is strategic, considering the growing demand for diverse streaming options on the platform.

Quest users currently rely on the built-in Internet browser to access streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Max, Paramount+, and Apple TV. Native XR video streaming apps available on Quest include Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, PlutoTV, Starz, and YouTube.
