Meta’s Quest 3S Xbox Edition Headset Sells Out Quickly
Meta recently launched the Quest 3S Xbox Edition headset, which was labeled as a “limited edition” device. Despite being out of stock on Meta’s website, the headset is still available at third-party retailers.
The high demand for the Quest 3S Xbox Edition has led to it selling out on Meta’s website in both the US and UK. It remains unclear whether the demand exceeded expectations or if Meta had limited direct stock available from the start.
Although Meta’s website shows the headset as out of stock, it can still be purchased from Best Buy in the US and Argos and EE in the UK. Even the official Xbox website redirects buyers to the sold-out page on Meta, indicating a faster sell-out rate than anticipated.
While scalpers are reselling the Quest 3S Xbox Edition at a premium on platforms like eBay, the headset itself offers the same features as the Quest 3S with a unique color scheme, an Xbox controller, and three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Despite not being able to play Xbox games in VR, the Quest 3S Xbox Edition provides a discounted bundle for gamers interested in using a headset for flatscreen gaming. The $400 price tag includes the headset, Xbox controller, and Game Pass Ultimate, offering a 16% discount compared to purchasing the components separately.
Microsoft’s previous promise of high fidelity VR support for Xbox never materialized, making the Quest 3S Xbox Edition the closest option for Xbox users to experience gaming in a VR-like environment. While it may not fulfill all VR expectations, it still provides a unique gaming experience for enthusiasts.
