Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
The aim is to bring AI capabilities found in higher-priced Snapdragon X processors to more affordable PC laptops in the $700-$900 range.
The NPU (Neural Processing Unit) in the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core is on par with other SnapDragon X chips, enabling Microsoft Copilot+ to operate efficiently on upcoming laptops from Acer, ASUS, Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung.
While the GPU performance is lower compared to higher-end Snapdragon X processors, the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core is geared towards productivity and entertainment tasks that don’t heavily rely on 3D graphics or video editing.
The processor can support three external monitors for productivity applications and seamless entertainment on the go, thanks to Qualcomm’s power-efficient platform.
Qualcomm’s expertise in the smartphone industry ensures top-notch wireless connectivity with features like 5G, WiFi 7, Snapdragon Sound, and advanced camera software for users.
Following the launch of the Snapdragon X Elite, Qualcomm continues to introduce affordable always-connected PC products, showcasing innovation in the computer industry.
