PlayStation Network is currently experiencing a significant outage, impacting all of its online services.

Update 5PM 08/02 – PSN has been offline for over 17 hours. Sony has not provided any substantial updates besides acknowledging that “some users may be experiencing issues”, which is quite an understatement.

PSN went offline just before midnight in the UK, with a sharp increase in reported problems on DownDetector. While the reports decreased overnight, PSN remains offline as of 9:30AM GMT.

The PlayStation Network status page shows all services including account management, gaming, social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct as unavailable.

Sony’s description of the issue as “some services” seems to downplay the severity of the situation.

If you were planning on gaming online this Saturday morning, you may need to consider alternative options like using a PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or watching the 24/7 Tom & Jerry anniversary stream. Alternatively, you could enjoy a single-player game instead.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update this page once PSN is back online.
