Ananta, the new name for Project Mugen, has been unveiled by Naked Rain and NetEase. This upcoming ‘urban open world’ game is set to rival popular titles like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, offering a mix of gaming inspirations and unique ideas.

Ananta is currently in development for PC, mobile, and PS5, with pre-registration now open and the first tests scheduled for 2025.

Upon watching the trailer, it’s evident that Ananta is more than just an anime GTA-like game. From breathing ice cream into existence to rampaging chainsaw car monsters and even a bipedal toilet race, the game is full of unexpected surprises.

Throughout the trailer, gameplay elements reminiscent of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are showcased, including grapple swinging and stealthy superhero actions. In addition, players can expect action RPG combat, over-the-top cutscene abilities, and a variety of open-world activities such as car chases, races, basketball, weight lifting, and more.

With its eclectic mix of ideas, Ananta offers a unique gaming experience. If you can embrace the free-to-play gacha monetization model seen in games like Genshin Impact and ZZZ, Ananta might be right up your alley.

As described by Naked Rain, Ananta is set in Nova, a vibrant coastal city known for its sunny weather and endless entertainment options. Whether street surfing in Paradox Plaza or gaming at Glimmergold, there’s always something exciting to do. With humans and Chaos coexisting, players can expect unexpected twists in their adventures.

According to the Nova Tourism Board, encountering Chaos in the city is not uncommon. The advice is to report any incidents first and take selfies later. While having fun, it’s important to stay safe in this dynamic city.
