Philips Hue has recently unveiled a selection of new products and app features aimed at enhancing the home lighting experience.
One of the standout offerings is the Philips Hue Twilight, a revolutionary sleep and wake-up light designed to support users’ circadian rhythms. Available in both white and black variants, the Twilight light incorporates an illumination head and a backlight featuring ColourCast technology, which replicates the colors of the morning and evening sky. This innovative design is intended to assist users in maintaining a regular sleep schedule, promoting restful sleep and a refreshed awakening.
The Twilight light’s compact design makes it suitable for placement on a bedside table, complete with two customizable buttons for light adjustment, in addition to app control. One button allows users to cycle through six new light scenes like ‘Arise’ and ‘Sleepy,’ while the other triggers the Sunset Go to Sleep automation, simulating a sunset with deep red hues. The wake-up automation gradually brightens, enabling users to wake up gently to the colors of the morning sun. With ultra-low dimming capabilities, the Twilight light can dim to an industry-leading 0.5% brightness, ensuring smooth transitions between different lighting settings.
In addition to the Twilight light, Philips Hue has expanded its range of Lightguide bulbs with the introduction of four new shapes: small globe, large globe, Edison, and triangle. These handblown glass bulbs offer a modern design and millions of shades of white and colored light, allowing users to personalize their lighting scenes via the Philips Hue app and create unique lighting experiences tailored to their preferences.
Furthermore, the Philips Hue Solo light strip offers a flexible lighting solution for hard-to-reach spaces, available in cuttable 3m, 5m, and 10m versions. With 1700 lumens of pure color and pure white light, the light strip can be shaped and bent to fit various areas such as closets, ceilings, walls, stairs, and floors. Integrated with the full Philips Hue system, the light strip enables users to create different lighting experiences to suit any mood.
The introduction of the Datura ceiling light expands Philips Hue’s ceiling light range, featuring a round shape and a slim, frameless profile ideal for rooms with low ceiling heights. With two individually controllable light sources in white and colored light, the Datura ceiling light offers customizable color effects to enhance the ambience of any room.
Moreover, Philips Hue has upgraded its GU10 bulbs to provide enhanced brightness and energy efficiency, offering 400 lumens at 4000k compared to the previous generation’s 350 lumens. With a longer lifespan of 25,000 hours and 50% lower standby power consumption, the new GU10 bulbs offer a more sustainable choice for smart home lighting.
To complement the new lighting products, Philips Hue has introduced updates to its app and integrated security system, including Philips Hue Secure. This system enables users to set light and sound alarms that activate automatically when the system is armed, along with scheduling options for automatic arming and disarming. These features are set to be available in Summer 2024, providing users with enhanced home monitoring and security capabilities.
The latest offerings from Philips Hue showcase a significant expansion of the brand’s smart lighting portfolio, with products like the Twilight sleep and wake-up light, versatile Lightguide bulbs, the flexible Solo light strip, and the Datura ceiling light catering to diverse preferences in home lighting. The upgraded GU10 bulbs and Philips Hue Secure system updates further demonstrate the brand’s commitment to energy efficiency and comprehensive home security, positioning Philips Hue as a leader in innovative smart home lighting solutions.
