Pathologic 3 Announced: A Surrealist Time Management Game
Ice-Pick Lodge and HypeTrain Digital have unveiled Pathologic 3, the highly anticipated sequel to Pathologic 2, which hit the shelves in 2019. Pathologic 2 was a reimagining of the original Pathologic released back in 2005, featuring three distinct characters – the Changeling, the Haruspex, and the Bachelor. While Pathologic 2 centered around the Haruspex, Pathologic 3 will delve into the story of the Bachelor.
In this installment, players will assume the role of The Bachelor, a doctor on a quest to locate an immortal man and conquer death itself within the confines of a small town. Armed with a unique time travel mechanic, The Bachelor must navigate through 12 days to accomplish this daunting task. As players strive to defy death, they will also be tasked with shaping the town’s fate and aiding its inhabitants amidst a devastating epidemic.
Founder of Ice Pick Lodge, Nikolay Dybowski, shared, “We are crafting a game that explores how individuals expand their cognitive abilities to interact with previously imperceptible elements. Our aim is to delve into the player’s psyche and understanding. The current focus for me lies in reevaluating our conventional comprehension of cognitive functions – how to harness them effectively without succumbing to pitfalls. This is why we aim to develop gameplay that probes into this concept. The Bachelor epitomizes intellectuality in our narrative. The mechanic we introduce can be best described as surrealistic time management. We aspire to offer players an experience that challenges the conventional linear perception of time, revealing a world fragmented and operating in an unconventional manner.”
Pathologic 3 is slated for a 2025 launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
