Today, an announcement was made by Pathologic 3. Ice Pick Lodge developers are working on a sequel to their infamous plague town simulator, which will now include a time-travel mechanic. Players will have the opportunity to go back in time and witness how their decisions impact the lives of the townspeople. The sequel will feature the Bachelor, a doctor known for quoting Latin phrases, who can order quarantines and patrols in different areas of the town. Although there is no official release date yet, the game is expected to be ready sometime next year.

In Pathologic 2, players will take on the role of the Bachelor, acting as an academy physician and conducting research on pathogens using lab equipment. Management elements are also present in the game, with players being able to implement quarantines and patrols to contain the spread of disease.
The time travel aspect of the game seems to be more of a Rashomon-style storytelling, allowing players to revisit events and influence the unfolding narrative. Despite the limited 12-day timeframe, players can make decisions that reshape the course of events in the town.
It’s important to note that Pathologic 2 is not a direct sequel to the original game but rather an extensive remake. Initially launching with the Haruspex as the default character, the developers have decided to add the Bachelor and the Changeling in future updates. This change has led to the addition of a new number to the series, leaving players wondering if they will need to purchase Pathologic 4 to experience the Changeling’s perspective.
While some players may have initially struggled with the game’s harsh mechanics, updates and tweaks have improved the overall experience for many. Despite its challenges, Pathologic 2 has garnered a dedicated fan base who appreciate its dark and immersive world.
As the anticipation for the third sequel grows, it remains to be seen how the game will expand on its predecessor’s legacy. Will it continue to push boundaries and challenge players, or will it take a different direction altogether? Only time will tell.
