Exciting Changes Coming to Overwatch!
Blizzard Entertainment has announced exciting changes for Overwatch! The game will be dropping the “2” from its name and will see a major shift in the franchise in the coming year.
Overwatch will reboot its seasons with a new Season 1, starting on February 10th and running through Season 6.
Ten new heroes are set to be released over the course of this year, with the first 5 launching alongside the new Season 1.
“Overwatch is more than just a digit: it’s a living universe that keeps growing, keeps surprising, and keeps bringing players together from around the world,” Blizzard Entertainment stated. “This year marks a huge turning point in how the development team envisions the future of Overwatch, so we are officially dropping ‘2’ and moving forward as Overwatch.”
The naming change and content revamp may be confusing to some, especially since Blizzard controversially ended the original Overwatch before the launch of Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 initially launched in October 2022 across various platforms including Windows PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.
