With the launch of the new Reno 12 series of smartphones, Oppo has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Watch X, in the UK.
The Oppo Watch X bears a striking resemblance to the OnePlus Watch 2, with both starting at £299. This raises the question of why one would choose the Oppo Watch X over the OnePlus Watch 2, especially considering that it does not address the main issues with the wearable.
Both devices come in a 46mm body housing a large 1.43-inch circular display, which may not be suitable for those with smaller wrists due to its size and weight of nearly 50g without a strap.
While Oppo missed an opportunity to launch a slimmer watch that would appeal to a wider audience, the Watch X remains bulky.

Both watches boast similar specs, including a dual-engine setup with a Snapdragon W5 for a 100-hour battery life, fast charging, and Google WearOS. However, the Oppo Watch X lacks features like LTE connectivity and ECG functionality.
Despite an early bird discount of £20 from 19-27 June, the OnePlus Watch 2 is already cheaper at £269 on the official OnePlus store, with additional offers and discounts available.
The Oppo Watch X is available in Platinum Black and Mars Brown color options, but the Radiant Steel OnePlus Watch 2 may be more visually appealing to some users.
Additionally, the Nordic Blue edition of the OnePlus Watch 2 is available for £299 (down from £329), providing even more reasons to choose the OnePlus smartwatch over the Oppo Watch X.
Given Oppo’s limited presence in the US market, it is unlikely that the Watch X will be launched there.
