Capcom has released a new update on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the latest installment in the popular action series.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a new action game set in the world of the classic Onimusha franchise. Making a comeback after nearly twenty years, Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes players back to a dark fantasy feudal Japan where samurais battle supernatural forces in intense combat.
The game is set in the Sengoku period, a time of warring states in Japan’s history. Mixing historical events with Japanese folklore, Onimusha tells the story of warriors who possess the mystical power of the Oni and their struggle against the Genma, monstrous creatures seeking to dominate the world. Known for its sword-based combat and thrilling “Issen” counterattacks, the series has gained popularity for its captivating narratives that blend history with fantasy.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword unfolds in Kyoto during the early Edo period, where the city has been overrun by demonic Genma, turning it into a haunting landscape. The debut trailer showcases a lone samurai equipped with the Oni Gauntlet engaging in intense sword fights with these otherworldly creatures.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is currently in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, with an expected release date in 2026.
