According to a former Nintendo marketer, the company is not thrilled about the leaks surrounding the rumored Switch 2, but their plans remain unchanged.
The excitement and speculation surrounding the Switch 2 are reminiscent of the original Switch launch, but perhaps even more intense this time around. Various rumors and leaks have surfaced, with some enthusiasts even turning to unconventional methods like tarot readings to glean information about the console’s release date. While the extent of the leaks remains uncertain, former Nintendo director Kit Ellis believes that these developments have not swayed Nintendo from its long-term strategy, as he shared in a recent Patreon video.
“Nintendo values long-term planning over short-term gains, so changing the announcement date for the Switch 2 in response to current events would go against that principle,” Ellis explained. “While the current situation may be uncomfortable for Nintendo, it is unlikely to have a lasting impact on the console’s success over the next several years.”
Ellis emphasized that Nintendo’s main concern at the moment is preventing game leaks, as hardware advancements tend to be incremental. Despite the challenges they are facing, once Nintendo officially announces the Switch 2 and reveals its games, the current leaks and speculations will become a thing of the past. Fans can expect an official reveal in the near future.
