With over forty minutes of trailers released for Death Stranding 2, there is still much we don’t know about the game. The latest trailer, unveiling a launch date of June 26th, 2025 for PlayStation 5, begins with a shocking conversation.
We are given some backstory on what has transpired since the last game, with humanity reconnecting and automated deliveries rendering Sam’s job as a postman obsolete. This time around, Sam must deal with a rise of a cult and care for Baby Lou. Kojima’s signature needle drops are still present, with the haunting song “Too the Wilder” by Woodkid featured in the trailer.
New Tar enemies, locations, characters, and exciting motorcycle battles are showcased in the trailer. Tentacles play a prominent role, appearing in unexpected places. However, there is no confirmation on whether we will see Little Norman in the game.
Previous trailers have featured Fragile, Rainy, and Tomorrow posing with toy versions of white grubs introduced as food in the first game. They sport fashionable jackets and even dance on vehicles from the game.
The video continues with footage from a previous trailer before transitioning to a new one featuring Baby Lou and a religious ceremony. Fragile is seen carrying Lou away from danger, followed by a shot of the DHV Megellan and the revelation that a private company, APAC, is funding the project. The final shot shows Baby Lou’s pod with octopus tentacles inside.
The game will launch with a Digital Deluxe Edition priced $10 above the standard $69.99 and includes in-game bonus items. The Collector’s Edition, priced at $230, features a statue.
