A recent update to the beloved MMORPG, Old School RuneScape, has stirred controversy among fans. The update eliminates traditional male/female gender options from the character creator, replacing them with “Body type A” and “Body type B.” Additionally, players are now required to select pronouns for their characters: He/him, They/them, or She/her.
The update, labeled “Diversity & Inclusion,” also allows all facial hair styles to be used on either body type. Notably, these changes were not subject to player approval, as they were deemed mandatory by the developers.
Earlier this year, another “Diversity & Inclusion” update altered a popular in-game event and censored certain character designs. These changes reflect a broader trend in the gaming industry towards gender-neutral and inclusive content.
Despite the backlash from some fans, Old School RuneScape remains accessible on various platforms including Windows PC, Mac, Android, and iOS.
