NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Thursday, October 3

Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. It offers a challenging twist on the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye to solve.

Similar to popular puzzles like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be tricky on certain days. If you find yourself stuck and in need of some assistance, you can refer to the solved puzzle below.

How to play Strands

To begin a Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the “theme words” hidden within the grid of letters. You can manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm. When you correctly identify a word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.

Even if you discover a word that is not a theme word, it still provides assistance. For every three non-theme words of at least four letters in length that you uncover, you will receive a hint – one of the theme words’ letters will be revealed for you to unscramble.

Every letter on the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Each letter is used once and only once.

Each puzzle features a “spangram,” a special theme word or words that describe the puzzle’s theme and connect two opposite sides of the board. When you locate the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

The goal is to complete the puzzle swiftly while minimizing the use of hints.
