The New York Times is expanding its Games collection with a new math-focused title called Digits, following the success of Wordle. In this game, players will test their math skills by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers to match a target number. The beta version of Digits is currently available for free online.
In Digits, players are given six numbers and tasked with using mathematical operations to get as close as possible to the target number. Not every number needs to be used, adding an extra challenge to the game. Players can earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, three stars for getting within 10 of the target, and one star for getting within 25 of the target number. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles with increasing difficulty levels.
Having solved today’s puzzle, I found Digits to be an engaging number-based game that will appeal to puzzle enthusiasts who enjoy games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee from The New York Times.
In an article revealing Digits and the development process behind The New York Times Games team, The Times mentions that the free beta will help identify and fix any bugs before deciding whether to proceed with further development. If Digits doesn’t receive the desired response during the beta phase, The New York Times may halt the project. So, make sure to play Digits now while it’s available.
