Niantic Spatial Launches Mixed Reality Pet Game ‘Hello, Dot’ on Quest 3
Niantic Spatial has officially launched its mixed reality pet game Hello, Dot on Quest 3, taking it out of early access and introducing a host of exciting new features.
Hello, Dot is categorized as a “mixed reality showcase” among Niantic Spatial’s array of AR experiences, which initially began with Peridot on mobile in 2023.
Aside from Hello, Dot for Quest 3, Niantic Spatial’s collection of XR experiences also includes Peridot Beyond for Snap Spectacles, Pause with Peridot, and Snap-a-Dot for Web AR, along with SunnyTune for Apple Vision Pro.
Having transitioned out of early access on Quest 3, Hello, Dot now boasts several new features, including:
- Dots with enhanced personality traits and playful behaviors
- A charming arcade machine offering dot play dates
- Gen AI-based customization through voice commands
- Engaging mini-games like Dotball and Eating Contests
- A glimpse into the future with the potential of Peridot agentic AI guide
The newly introduced arcade machine allows players to partake in various activities, including mini-games like Play Dates, Dotball (similar to dodgeball), or an Eating Contest with their Dot. By engaging in these mini-games, players can earn in-game currency to spend at the shop on accessories such as outfits and playful items for their Dot.
Asim Ahmed, Global Product Marketing Lead, expressed, “With this significant evolution of Hello, Dot, we’re not just introducing new gameplay elements; we’re delving deeper into the enchantment of true mixed reality interaction.” Ahmed further emphasized the app’s exploration of how digital life can enrich physical spaces, driving their vision towards a future where technology seamlessly integrates wonder into everyday reality.
Hello, Dot now features a new Gen AI-powered Dot customizer, allowing players to verbally describe the desired appearance for their Dot and then immerse them in a magical paint bucket to achieve the desired effect.
Interested players can download Hello, Dot from the Horizon Store for free, exclusively available for Quest 3 and 3S.
