Apple teased some big things coming to Apple Fitness+ in the New Year on Instagram just before 2026 kicked off this week. It seems that a new lineup of Fitness programs is on the horizon, with more announcements expected as the year progresses. Apple typically refreshes its Fitness+ content annually, aligning these changes with the new year when many are looking to get back in shape after holiday festivities and New Year’s Resolutions. This year is no different, as Apple has introduced a new lineup of programs featuring more Artist Spotlight workouts and Time to Walk episodes to keep users active in the new year.
One of the most significant reveals is Apple’s collaboration with Strava for a unique third-party challenge, marking the first time Apple has partnered with an external app for a challenge. Alongside the usual Ring in the New Year challenge, where users are rewarded for closing all three rings for seven consecutive days in January, Strava users with an Apple Watch can participate in the “Quit Quitting” challenge. This challenge offers a special badge for logging 12 workouts at any time during the month.
New Fitness+ Programs
Commencing on Monday, January 5, Apple is introducing four new workout programs that will provide users with weekly training plans to help them achieve their fitness goals:
- Make Your Fitness Comeback: A four-week plan featuring a Strength, HIIT, and Yoga workout each week to ease users back into a fitness routine.
- Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks: Designed for beginners or those looking to incorporate yoga into their fitness regimen, offering two 10-minute workouts per week.
- Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT: A three-week program combining strength training and high-intensity interval training for a more intense workout experience.
- Strength Basics in 3 Weeks: A program focusing on the fundamentals of strength training, set to launch on January 12.
More Music to Get You Moving
Apple’s “Artist Spotlight” series introduced in 2021 continues to feature prominent artists like Bad Bunny, KAROL G, and others in workout playlists. The Time to Walk series will also include celebrities like Mel B, Penn Badgley, and Michelle Monaghan this year.
What’s Next for Apple Fitness+?
Apple Fitness+ has expanded to 48 countries since its launch in 2020, and rumors suggest a potential AI-powered “Health+” service in the works. Despite speculation, Fitness+ remains focused on providing top-notch workout programs for users.
How to Get Apple Fitness+
Apple Fitness+ is available as a standalone subscription for $9.99 per month, or as part of the Apple One Premier bundle for $37.95 per month. The service works best with an Apple Watch but can also be used with the new AirPods Pro 3 for tracking workouts. Strava subscribers can enjoy two months of Fitness+ at no extra cost, extending the standard one-month trial period.
