Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord’s War Sails Expansion: A Deep Dive
Greetings, historical farming village dwellers. Prepare to set sail as TaleWorlds introduces the War Sails expansion for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord this Autumn. In a recent blog post, they delve into the details of the game’s first venture into naval warfare. Watch the trailer below if you haven’t seen it yet.
TaleWorlds is reshaping the game world by moving settlements closer to water, widening rivers, and rethinking bridges to enhance maritime trade and introduce new strategic elements. Players can now travel by water, opening up opportunities for naval movement and combat.
“For settlements now hugging rivers and coasts, danger sails closer — rival ports are now just a voyage away. To meet this new maritime threat, both parties and armies can now travel by water, gaining access to naval movement and combat.”
In addition to coastal changes, naval warfare will play a significant role in sieges, with blockades forming automatically around naval settlements during sieges. Players can reinforce besieged towns from the water, either by breaking through blockades or attacking fleets directly.
Sailing in Bannerlord will be affected by wind speed, currents, and hazards like storms. Players can summon their ships from coastal towns and must navigate challenges like attrition while at sea.
