Motorola has been known for pushing boundaries with its Edge series, offering premium smartphones at competitive prices.
Following the success of the Edge 50 series, which impressed with its design, camera performance, and fast charging capabilities, the Edge 60 series is poised to build upon these features and possibly introduce new innovations.
Here’s everything we currently know.
When can we expect the Motorola Edge 60 series?
While Motorola doesn’t have a fixed release schedule for its flagship Edge series, previous launches provide some indication.
The Edge 50 Ultra was announced on April 16, 2024, and became available for purchase on May 5, 2024. Similarly, the Edge 40 Pro was unveiled and launched in April 2023.
Based on this trend, it is highly probable that Motorola will reveal the Edge 60 Ultra, or at least one model from the Edge 60 series, in April or May 2025.
However, it’s uncertain how many of the previous models will receive a successor this year, as Motorola may choose to skip some of them.
For reference, here are the recent launch dates in Europe:
As usual, the Edge 60 series is unlikely to be available in the US, as Motorola does not distribute its phones there.
What will be the price of the Motorola Edge 60 series?
The most powerful Edge 50 Ultra saw a price increase of €100 over its predecessor, starting at £849.99/€999 for the 512GB model. If Motorola follows the same pricing strategy, the Edge 60 Ultra is expected to launch at £849.99/€999 as well.
Despite the price hike, Motorola’s flagship phones remain more affordable than comparable models from Samsung and Google. Additionally, Motorola often offers discounts at launch, and major carriers in the UK and EU typically provide promotions or bundle deals.
At this point, the pricing of other devices in the series remains unknown. However, anticipate at least similar pricing to their predecessors:
What specifications and features can we expect from the Motorola Edge 60 series?
While details on most expected models in the series are currently scarce, Phone Arena has shared some information about the flagship Edge 60 Ultra.
Design
Motorola has earned a reputation for bold and premium designs in its flagship models. The Edge 50 Ultra featured unique back panel materials such as wood and vegan leather, which are likely to make a return with the Edge 60 Ultra.
The frame is expected to remain aluminum to keep the price competitive, as opting for stainless steel or titanium would significantly raise costs, making them less likely choices.
One anticipated improvement is in display durability, possibly upgrading from Gorilla Glass Victus to Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The overall design language should remain consistent, with a slim, curved profile that is ergonomic to hold.

Display
Motorola has consistently delivered high-quality displays, especially in its Ultra series.
The Edge 50 Ultra features a 1220 x 2712 resolution screen with a variable 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits.

Given that this display is already one of the best in the industry, the Edge 60 Ultra may retain these specifications or introduce minor enhancements.
Performance
The Edge 50 Ultra was equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a slightly less powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
While it delivered impressive performance, it fell short of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, especially in graphics.
In our Geekbench 6 multi-core test, the Edge 50 Ultra scored only 5384 points, while the standard Galaxy S24 scored 6251 points.

The Edge 60 Ultra might continue with the “s” variant of Qualcomm’s flagship processor to keep costs down or opt for the full Snapdragon 8 Elite for improved performance.
The final decision will determine how well the device stacks up against other flagship phones in 2025.
Cameras
Motorola surprised many with the impressive camera performance of the Edge 50 Ultra, especially in still photography. However, video recording quality needed improvement.
The Edge 60 Ultra may retain the same camera specifications as its predecessor, including a 50Mp main camera with OIS, a 50Mp ultrawide lens with autofocus, a 64Mp telephoto lens with 3X zoom and OIS, and a 50Mp front-facing camera with autofocus.

Motorola might also introduce new image sensors to enhance sharpness, clarity, and overall image quality.
Given that HDR and stabilization were already strong in the Edge 50 Ultra, improvements in video recording could be a key focus.
Battery & Charging
The Edge 50 Ultra offered solid battery life thanks to its 4500mAh battery and efficient chipset.
The phone could last through a 16-hour day of moderate use, with the display set to either a fixed 144Hz or 120Hz, and still have around 40 to 45% remaining.
However, if the Edge 60 Ultra upgrades to a more power-hungry chipset, battery life may be impacted.
