The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a popular RPG game, recently received official modding tools called REDKit. These tools allow players to customize the game by adding new content, including custom questlines. Just a couple of months after the release of REDKit, ‘Tuber xLetalis and modder glassfish have put together a showcase featuring around 20 minutes of cut content from the game’s ending. This content includes scenes that were originally removed from the game.
The cut scenes showcased in the video were meant to take place between Geralt’s confrontation with Eredin and the game’s finale at the tower. The setting is a Nilfgaardian camp, where players would have interacted with characters like Yennefer and Emperor Charles Dance. There are also optional conversations and exploration elements included. One scene shows Yennefer betraying the Lodge of Sorceress to the Nilfgaardians to aid Ciri, while allowing Triss to escape.
Additionally, the discarded scenes feature extra interactions with Crach an Craite, a character known for giving a magic sword with underwhelming stats. While it’s been a while since I played The Witcher 3, these cut scenes hint at intricate political maneuvering similar to The Witcher 2’s closing chapters.
Although The Witcher 3 was praised for its storytelling, there were some unresolved plotlines from the previous game, such as Iorveth and Saskia. The availability of modding tools like REDKit opens up possibilities for players to enhance their gaming experience by adding new content. Who knows, maybe one day modders will bring back those lost plot threads and even give you back your beloved dragon wife!
