Microsoft says it’s recovering after Azure outage took down 365, Xbox, and Starbucks

At around 16:00 UTC on October 29, 2025, Azure Front Door (AFD) users and Microsoft services may have encountered delays, timeouts, and errors. The issue was traced back to an accidental configuration change.

Impacted Azure services possibly included App Service, Azure Active Directory B2C, Azure Communication Services, and more. The AFD service has now restored to over 98% availability.

While most customers and services have been resolved or are showing significant improvement, efforts are ongoing to fully recover for remaining affected parties. Our revised mitigation plan aims for complete resolution by 00:40 UTC on October 30, 2025.
