Microsoft Enables iPhone-to-Windows File Sharing for Insiders

Microsoft has recently introduced a new feature that allows file sharing between iPhones and Windows PCs for users participating in the Windows Insider program. This innovative feature streamlines the process of transferring files between these two types of devices, addressing a common challenge faced by iPhone and Windows users.

In order to access this feature, users must ensure that they have the latest versions of the necessary applications. Specifically, the Phone Link app on Windows should be updated to version 1.24112.73 or higher, while the Link to Windows app on iPhone should be on version 1.24112.89.0 or higher. Additionally, users need to have an iPhone running iOS 16 or later.

Transferring files from an iPhone to a Windows PC is a simple process. Users just need to locate the file on their iPhone, click the share icon, and select the “Link to Windows” option. They can then choose the target device to complete the transfer. To transfer files from a Windows PC to an iPhone, users can right-click on the desired file, select “Share,” and then click on “My Phone” to start the transfer.

This new feature is accessible through the Phone Link app, previously known as Your Phone, which facilitates communication and file-sharing between Windows PCs and mobile devices. By extending this capability to iPhones, Microsoft is aiming to enhance compatibility and user experience within its ecosystem.

Currently, this feature is only available to members of the Windows Insider program, a group that tests early features and updates. The wider release of this feature has not yet been announced, but it signifies a significant step towards seamless integration between Apple and Windows platforms.
