Gameplay

Vertigo Games successfully captures the essence of the Metro series in Metro Awakening by bringing familiar elements like a gritty post-apocalyptic setting, unique weaponry, and a blend of scavenging, sneaking, and shooting gameplay. While the game’s scope may not be as expansive as its predecessor, Metro Exodus (2019), it delivers a compelling VR experience.

Immersion

Metro Awakening excels in creating a tense and atmospheric environment. The detailed, decaying surroundings immerse players in a world pieced together from the remnants of society. While the PC and PSVR 2 versions boast superior visuals, the Quest 3 version maintains a dense and engaging world. The game effectively utilizes Meta’s Application Spacewarp technology for optimal performance on the standalone headset.

Comfort

Metro Awakening offers a range of VR comfort options, including teleport movement, but its confined settings and frequent staircase traversal may pose challenges for motion-sensitive players. The game’s posture options, accessibility features, and comfort settings cater to a diverse player base, ensuring a customizable experience.
