Meta Launches Quest 3S Xbox Edition for $400, Including Controller & 3 Months of Cloud Gaming

Meta and Microsoft have unveiled the Quest 3S Xbox Edition, a special limited edition bundle that is available starting today. This bundle includes everything you need for both XR (extended reality) and Xbox cloud gaming.

It’s important to note that this is not Xbox’s answer to PlayStation VR. Instead, it is a unique colorway of the standard Quest 3S (128GB) model, featuring Xbox’s Carbon Black and Velocity Green design. However, it offers more than just a new color scheme.

Priced at $399.99, the bundle includes the Quest 3S headset, a pair of matching Touch Plus controllers for VR and mixed reality gameplay, a limited edition Xbox controller, a matching Elite Strap, and a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

Considering the individual prices of the components included in the bundle, purchasing them separately would cost around $490. This breakdown includes the Quest 3S 128GB with controllers ($299), Quest Elite Strap ($69), standard Xbox controller ($64), and a 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription ($60).

If you already own a compatible Xbox controller and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you may not need the special edition Quest 3S. Meta and Microsoft introduced Xbox cloud gaming on Quest in late 2023, supporting Quest 2 and newer models, allowing users to play over 400 cloud streaming-supported games.

In addition to the Xbox components, the Quest 3S Xbox Edition also comes with a three-month subscription to Meta’s Horizon+ game service, which typically costs $8 per month. Horizon+ offers access to downloadable Quest games, including popular titles like Asgard’s Wrath 2 (2023), Red Matter (2018), and Demeo (2021). Subscribers can also choose two games each month to keep indefinitely.

While the Quest 3S Xbox Edition was first announced at Connect 2024 in April, Meta is also preparing to launch other XR headsets, collaborating with ASUS Republic of Gamers and Lenovo to develop new headsets running on the Horizon OS. ASUS is focusing on performance, while Lenovo aims to cater to “productivity, learning, and entertainment.”

The Quest 3S Xbox Edition is now available for purchase on meta.com, Best Buy in the US, and Argos and EE in the UK. Supplies are limited, so act fast if you’re interested in this unique bundle.
