Meta has recently unveiled details about its upcoming Connect developer conference, scheduled for September 17th – 18th. With the success of Ray-Ban Meta, smart glasses seem to be taking center stage once again this year.
The company has shared brief descriptions of several sessions, including the keynote on September 17th featuring Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the developer keynote on September 18th, and a discussion on “the future of computing.”
It’s clear that the focus on smart glasses, referred to as Meta ‘AI glasses,’ is significant, and there are compelling reasons for this.
According to reports from various sources and supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Meta is gearing up to release a new pair of smart glasses with a display, known as ‘Hypernova,’ which is expected to be priced around $800.

Interestingly, a series of leaks provided by data miner ‘Luna’ since late June seem to showcase the glasses in full (as seen above), indicating that Hypernova (also known as ‘Celeste’) could be a standalone project not associated with Ray-Ban and Oakley maker EssilorLuxottica.
These glasses are rumored to feature a single monocular heads-up display and a wrist-worn electromyography (EMG) based controller for input. While these reports have not been confirmed by Meta, we will have to wait and see for ourselves.
However, something is definitely in the works, and the launch of a new pair of smart glasses seems highly likely. As reported by UploadVR in early August, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth mentioned that Connect 2025 will include a “big wearables announcement.”
The sessions will also highlight the company’s advancements in AI and its metaverse aspirations with the social VR platform Horizon Worlds. You can find the schedule and descriptions below:
