Meross’ presence sensor ditches the cord and adds Thread support

Meross has introduced an upgraded version of its MS600 presence sensor, now powered by a single CR123A battery, offering up to three years of usage. This new battery-powered sensor, named MS605, allows for flexible installation without the constraints of a power cord, making it ideal for a variety of locations.

The transition to battery power is complemented by support for Matter over the low-power Thread protocol, enhancing connectivity and compatibility with smart home ecosystems. The MS605 retains the key features of its predecessor, including the articulated mounting plate for versatile positioning and the combination of sensors for accurate motion and presence detection.

With an IP67 waterproof rating, the MS605 can now be used outdoors, expanding its potential applications. However, the battery-powered design has slightly reduced the sensor’s range compared to its predecessor. Despite this limitation, the MS605 remains a reliable and efficient solution for monitoring movement and presence in various settings.
