Indie developer HighlandArchitect has unveiled Highland Keep, a new third-person survival strategy game where players build castles in misty, medieval Scotland.
Highland Keep is currently being developed for Windows PC (via Steam), with no specific release date announced yet.
Here is an overview of the game, along with its first teaser trailer:
Highland Keep is a third-person survival strategy game set in dark, mist-covered medieval Scotland. Players take on the role of a clan leader, engaging in base building, colony management, survival mechanics, and real-time action combat in an open-world environment.
Features
- Total Freedom of Castle Building – Players can design and construct any castle they desire, without preset limitations. They can build walls, towers, interiors, traps, crafting stations, storage rooms, and smaller structures piece by piece. Each keep is unique, functional, and fully explorable, reflecting the player’s strategy and character.
- A Fully Simulated Living World – The game world operates in real-time, even when players are not actively involved. Other clans within the game exist, expand, fight, trade, and raid on their own. Players can choose diplomacy, alliances, trade, or total war. Their decisions influence regional power, borders, and overall survival.
- Character-Driven Progression – Character development directly impacts gameplay systems by unlocking advanced building options, improving clan management, affecting morale, and enhancing combat abilities. How players grow their character defines how their settlement and clan evolve.
