Marvel Rivals performance bottlenecks are "a very big problem", agree NetEase, but don't worry, they're adding a box

Imagine a Marvel supervillain whose sole purpose is to wreak havoc on PC game memory requirements. Let’s call her Dr. RAMsbottom – also known as the Bottlenecking Belle or Zero Sub Sixty. For far too long, Dr. RAMsbottom has been a thorn in the side of Marvel Rivals players, slowing down their heroic adventures to a frustrating crawl.

But fear not, fellow Rivals, for the experts at NetEase are working on a solution. They are considering adding a feature that will allow players to significantly reduce the game’s memory usage and improve performance. Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen hinted at this possibility during an interview at GDC 2025.

While the specifics of this feature are still unclear, it’s clear that NetEase is committed to optimizing the game for better performance. Whether this new feature will truly make a difference or simply be a placebo effect remains to be seen. Perhaps Dr. RAMsbottom’s weakness lies in deceptive menu options?

Chen was cautious about revealing too much, emphasizing the complexity of the issue and the need for thorough testing before implementing any fixes. As Rivals Season 2 approaches, players can look forward to new Team-Ups and other exciting additions.

As someone who enjoys pushing the limits of low-spec machines, I haven’t experienced significant performance issues with Rivals on my 16GB PC. But how has it been for you? Share your thoughts as we gear up for the launch of Rivals Season 2 on April 11th.
