Marvel Rivals mod for Donald Trump gets banned on Nexus Mods

Controversy Surrounding Donald Trump Mod in Marvel Rivals Game

Modding is a common practice in the gaming world, but a recent incident involving a Donald Trump-themed mod for the game Marvel Rivals has raised eyebrows.

The mod in question transformed Captain America, a character in the new 6v6 Marvel PVP shooter, into president-elect Donald Trump. However, the mod was swiftly removed from the popular modding portal Nexus Mods, while other mods with controversial themes like “Nude Squirrel” and “Nude Mantis” remain accessible.

Although Nexus Mods implemented a policy in 2020 to ban politics-related mods, the exact reason for the removal of the Marvel Rivals Donald Trump mod remains unclear. This decision came amidst the heated 2020 Presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, prompting Nexus Mods to crack down on mods that touched on sensitive political issues.

Interestingly, mods featuring the likeness of political figures like Donald Trump were initially allowed under the policy, making the removal of the Marvel Rivals mod puzzling for many. The ban on US politics-related mods is still in effect, with Nexus Mods stating that they will review the restriction after the next President of the United States is inaugurated.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on various platforms including Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, despite the controversy surrounding the Donald Trump mod.
