Purple Yonder Releases Mixed Reality Game ‘Little Critters’ for Quest 3 and 3S
Purple Yonder, the studio behind the popular VR city simulator Little Cities (2022), has unveiled a new mixed reality action-strategy game for Quest 3 and 3S. In this game, players are tasked with fortifying their real-world homes against waves of mischievous critters.
Known as Little Critters, this game challenges players to defend their homes using a variety of virtual traps that can be placed on walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture. The pint-sized invaders can crawl, swoop, and attack from all directions, offering an increasingly challenging experience as players progress through each wave.
As players advance through levels, they will encounter new types of critters with unique attack patterns. To counter these threats, new traps, upgrades, and weapons become available, all of which adapt to any room size or shape.
The studio explains that “innovative scene tracking maps the player’s surroundings, turning their actual room into a core component of the game.” Depth occlusion allows critters to move under tables and behind furniture, while hand tracking enables players to interact with the critters by slapping, squashing, throwing, and poking them.
In addition to hand tracking, the game also supports Touch Plus controllers.
Players can purchase Little Critters on the Horizon Store for $20/£15/€18. Purple Yonder has promised regular updates for the game, including new language options and additional content to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging.
Little Critters is the latest creation from the team behind the casual city simulator Little Cities. Originally a VR-exclusive experience published by nDreams, Little Cities has received updates for Quest 3 and hand tracking since its launch in 2022.
In late 2024, Purple Yonder introduced a mixed reality version of Little Critters for Apple Vision Pro, available through Apple Arcade, the subscription gaming service.
