LG Electronics has recently announced the incorporation of the latest Intel Core Ultra processor (Series 2) into its LG gram laptop lineup, marking a significant leap forward in personal computing. The all-new LG gram 16 Pro was unveiled at the Intel Core Ultra Global Launch Event on September 3rd during IFA and is set to hit the market by the end of 2024.
Renowned for its lightweight design and robust performance, the LG gram 16 Pro now boasts advanced AI capabilities powered by the Intel Core Ultra processor. With up to 48 neural processing unit (NPU) tera operations per second (TOPS), this on-device AI laptop sets a new standard for AI-enabled PCs.
The processor’s AI functionalities, including productivity assistants and text/image creation tools, enhance efficiency and user experience while prolonging battery life for uninterrupted task management.
According to the brand, the Intel Core Ultra processor (refer to our article on the Intel Core Ultra 200V) significantly enhances AI performance, being three times more powerful than its predecessor. It can deliver up to 120 total platform TOPS, combining 48 NPU TOPS and 67 GPU TOPS, to maximize productivity and provide a smoother experience tailored for Windows PCs.
Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s executive vice president, highlighted the partnership with LG, emphasizing the development of ultra-lightweight AI PCs that deliver exceptional performance and efficiency.
YS Lee, LG Business Solutions vice president, mentioned that the latest LG gram model pushes the boundaries of on-device AI, enhancing user experience and paving the way for future AI-integrated laptops.
