LG Display Begins Mass Production Of Tandem OLED Panels For Laptops

LG Display has recently started the mass production of the groundbreaking 13-inch Tandem OLED panel for laptops, marking a significant advancement in OLED technology. This innovative display features dual stacks of red, green, and blue organic light-emitting layers, offering superior durability, performance, and efficiency compared to traditional OLED panels.

Initially developed for automotive displays due to their reliability, Tandem OLED panels are now being tailored for IT devices like laptops, monitors, and tablets that require extended screen usage. The new 13-inch Tandem OLED panel for laptops not only boasts double the lifespan and triple the brightness of standard OLED screens but also reduces power consumption by up to 40%, making it ideal for high-performance laptops with AI integration.

LG Display has meticulously optimized the panel’s components and structure, resulting in a design that is 40% thinner and 28% lighter than traditional OLED screens, enhancing both portability and aesthetics. The panel also offers a high resolution of WQXGA+ (2880×1800) and meets 100% of the DCI-P3 color standard, ensuring vibrant and accurate color reproduction.

Certified as Display HDR True Black 500 by VESA, this panel excels in displaying both bright and dark images with exceptional clarity and depth, closely mimicking natural human vision. Additionally, an embedded touch sensor enhances touch performance, delivering a precise and sensitive touch experience.

Jae-Won Jang, Vice President and Head of the Medium Display Product Planning Division at LG Display, highlighted the company’s dedication to enhancing the competitiveness of OLED products for IT applications. He emphasized the unique advantages of Tandem OLED technology, such as extended lifespan, high brightness, and low power consumption, as key elements in delivering added value to customers.
