April 16, 2025: Spotify is currently experiencing a major outage that started at 1pm BST (8am ET). The timeline for resolution is uncertain.
Update 5pm BST: While Spotify hasn’t provided an official update, the service seems to be operational for most users, although some may still encounter issues. Personally, I can stream music and use search without any problems.
According to Downdetector, tens of thousands of users in both the UK and US have reported issues with Spotify.

An update at 3:39 BST confirms that Spotify is actively working on resolving the outage, assuring users that it’s not a security breach.
A Spotify spokesperson informed TechRadar that they have addressed the Search issue and are rolling out an update. However, the problem seems more extensive.
While some users can play downloaded music, others are unable to even load Spotify in a desktop browser, receiving an \”upstream request timeout\” message.
