Despite the convenience of Sky Glass and Sky Stream, issues can arise where your TV may not turn on or load certain channels or streaming services. Currently, many users across the UK are experiencing these problems – even I had trouble turning on my Sky Glass earlier this week.
If you are facing similar issues, there are steps you can take to restore your services. It is important to note that this article is specifically for Sky Glass and Sky Stream users, and a separate guide will be created for Sky Q users.
Check if there’s an active Sky issue
To begin, determine whether the problem is with your hardware or if it is a widespread issue. Visit Sky’s service page to see if engineers are addressing any known issues.
If there is a major problem, Sky may post updates on its Help social channels. If no information is available there, check Sky’s forums, Twitter, and Reddit to see if others are experiencing similar issues.
Try the Sky recovery process
Resetting your device varies depending on whether you have Sky Glass or Sky Stream. Here are the steps to follow:
How to reset Sky Glass
- Turn off your Sky Glass at the mains (no need to unplug)
- Press and hold the Standby button on the right-hand side of the TV for at least 60 seconds
Continue holding the button while turning the TV back on at the mains. Wait for the LED lights to flash, then allow 15 minutes for the recovery process to complete. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your TV, sign in to your Sky account on your smartphone, and adjust your preferences.
If the recovery process doesn’t work, consider following the steps recommended by Sky or contact them directly for assistance.
How to reset Sky Stream
- Turn off your Sky Stream at the mains
- Press and hold the Standby button on the bottom of the puck for at least 60 seconds
Keep holding the button while turning the device back on. Allow 15 minutes for the recovery process to finish, then set up your Stream and sign in to your account to resume streaming apps and adjust settings as needed.
If the recovery process fails, consult Sky’s help pages or contact them directly for further assistance.
For more specific issues, it is recommended to refer to Sky’s help pages. If all else fails, contacting Sky directly at 03337593505 is advised, although charges may apply for non-Sky Talk or Sky Mobile customers.
