Is ChatGPT Getting Apple Music Integration?

Reports of a potential Apple Intelligence feature for AI-generated playlists in Apple Music have not materialized, but OpenAI appears to be stepping in to fill the void. In recent months, the company has been expanding ChatGPT’s integration with various apps and services, and today it announced several new integrations, with Apple Music briefly mentioned among them.

The mention of Apple Music came in a Substack post by Fidji Simo, CEO of applications at OpenAI. However, after the news was picked up by 9to5Mac and other sources, the reference to Apple Music was quietly removed from Simo’s post.

Originally, the post stated:

Soon, according to Simo, “even more apps will be available in a new directory, including Adobe, Airtable, Apple Music, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, and other developers will be able to submit their apps for review.”

And now, the post reads:

Soon even more apps will be available in a new directory, including Adobe, Airtable, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, and other developers will be able to submit their apps for review.

While it’s unclear why Apple Music was initially mentioned and then removed, there seems to be a possibility of some collaboration between Apple and OpenAI in the works. With ChatGPT already enhancing Siri’s capabilities, the potential integration with Apple Music could bring AI-generated playlists to the platform.

Although details are scarce, the integration could lead to more sophisticated user interactions with Apple Music, especially in terms of personalized recommendations and playlist creation. It remains to be seen how this collaboration will unfold and whether it will be part of upcoming iOS updates.
