iOS 18 Camera App frame rate editing

Apple is set to launch its highly anticipated iOS 18 operating system for the iPhone next week, bringing with it a host of new features for users of the iPhone’s Camera app. Two standout additions include the ability to pause and resume video recording, as well as video speed control in the Photos app.

Pause in the Middle of Video Recording

The iOS 18 Release Candidate has already been made available to developers and public beta testers, unveiling a convenient new feature in the Camera app. This feature allows users to pause video recording with a simple tap on the screen and then seamlessly resume capturing footage. This functionality enables users to capture multiple shots within a single video, eliminating the need to start a new recording for each scene.

When recording a video on iOS 18, a pause button will appear on the screen, allowing for easy pausing and resuming of recording. Additionally, the stop recording button in the middle of the screen can be used to end the video recording at any time. It is speculated that this new feature can also be controlled using the Camera Control button on the upcoming iPhone 16 models.

Video Speed Control in the Photos App

The Photos app in the iOS 18 Release Candidate introduces a new video speed control feature, allowing users to adjust the frame rate of their recorded videos post-capture. This feature was showcased during Apple’s recent event unveiling the iPhone 16 models, but it is also compatible with older iPhones running iOS 18.

The Playback Speed editor offers various frame rate options, ranging from 240 to 24 frames per second, providing users with greater flexibility in editing their videos. Users can adjust the playback speed of high frame rate videos, with options for quarter-speed, half-speed, and normal speed playback.

With the release of iOS 18 scheduled for Monday, September 16, and the iPhone 16 models hitting stores on Friday, September 20, users can look forward to these exciting new features enhancing their video recording and editing experience.
