Intel Unison, a popular tool for Android and iOS users to share files and messages, is being shut down by Intel. This news comes as a surprise to many users who rely on the app for PC connection.
While Windows 11 Phone Link offers a similar function, it is limited to Android and iOS users, making it inaccessible to some users due to compatibility issues. With Intel Unison discontinuing its services, users will have to look for alternative options for connecting their mobile devices.
According to a report from Neowin, Intel Unison will cease to function after June 2025, with the wind-down process already underway. Users are being notified through the Microsoft Store, Google Play Store, and App Store about the app’s impending shutdown.
Intel Unison will soon be discontinued, with service ending for most platforms by the end of June 2025. Lenovo Aura platforms will continue to have service until 2025.
Windows Latest reports that a pop-up notification is also appearing in the app itself, informing users about the discontinuation.
While Windows 11 users with Android devices can use Windows Phone Link for a similar connection, some features may be missing compared to Intel Unison. The Phone Link app is free and compatible with most Windows 11 specifications, offering a convenient way to stay updated on mobile notifications from your desktop.
Intel has not provided an alternative program for current users or an explanation for the shutdown.
