The efficiency of the new Dell laptop with an LG Display screen and Intel Panther Lake chip is truly impressive. During Wi-Fi web browsing tests, it consumed as little as 1.5 watts at idle and lasted almost 27 hours on a 70 watt-hour battery pack. This performance surpasses any MacBook or MacBook Pro tested by Notebookcheck and even outperforms most laptops in the past seven years. The only laptops that exceeded its battery life had larger batteries or multiple battery setups.
Despite the exceptional battery life, real-world usage may differ from fixed tests. The Dell laptop, equipped with an Intel chip and LG Display screen, sets a new standard for battery efficiency. However, Dell also offers a higher-resolution OLED screen option, which may impact battery life. Opting for a lower resolution without OLED or touchscreen capabilities will maximize battery performance.
While Dell currently leads in integrating this technology, it may soon become available in other laptops. LG Display’s innovative LCD panel and upcoming OLED version, along with Intel’s partnerships with display manufacturers, indicate a potential shift towards more energy-efficient laptops in the industry.
