If you’re in the mood for a shapeshifting open world labyrinth, NaissanceE follow-up SenS has a new update

NaissancE developers Limasse Five have recently unveiled a major update for SenS, their early access open-world exploration game where players delve into a mysterious Structure in search of Unique Places, tools, and artifacts. Despite being a fan of ImpossiblE ArchitecturE, the existence of SenS was news to me until now.

Released on Steam in 2022, SenS features a world filled with twisted cuboids, sunken city pockets, and intricate fractal passages. While there are no direct threats, players must navigate through traps and Unstable Zones that evolve as they progress, becoming more complex and labyrinthine. To navigate these zones, players will need to utilize glowballs called Luces and other tools to secure paths and access points.

The game also introduces Unique Places, which are strange and beautiful portals leading to different areas within the Structure. These places contain objects that can be used to decorate your home base and various tools such as bags, candles, ropes, and more to aid in exploration. Additionally, players can acquire new abilities through certain objects found in these areas.

SenS is described by lead developer Mavros Sedeño as “the evolved vision of the Naissance project”, showcasing a larger game world compared to its predecessor. The game draws inspiration from various sources such as Blame! mangaka Tsutomo Nihei, Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves, and Foundation SCP.

The recent update, which was released after a long hiatus, allows players to experience new layers of exploration gameplay, including unique safe areas hidden within the Unstable Zone. Sedeño acknowledges that the game is still in the prototype stage, so players may encounter some bugs during gameplay.

Looking ahead, Sedeño plans to provide more regular updates, with new Unique Places and gameplay enhancements in the pipeline. Despite wanting to improve the visual quality of the game, the focus remains on enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

Although SenS is still a work in progress, players can currently enjoy a 20% discount until February 4th. As a fan of NaissanceE’s unique space and architecture, I am excited to explore this new world filled with cosmic dungeons and intriguing level designs.
