After nearly ten years, Mario Kart has made a triumphant return with a brand new installment for the Switch 2, introducing players to the first open-world entry in the series: Mario Kart World. With a longer roster of characters than ever before, including old favorites like Mario and new additions like Penguins from Super Mario 64, Chargin’ Chucks from Super Mario World, and Cows from Moo Moo Meadows, there’s something for everyone in this exciting racing game.
If you’re wondering how to unlock all the characters in Mario Kart World, look no further. Each Grand Prix you play and finish will unlock a new character, regardless of your placement in the race. Characters like Birdo, Bowser Jr., Daisy, and more can be unlocked simply by completing Grand Prix races.
For the remaining characters, you’ll need to experience a Kamek Transformation. This rare item can be found in rainbow-colored item blocks scattered around the tracks. When used, Kamek will transform players into different characters, allowing you to permanently unlock new ones like Coin Coffer, Dolphin, and Cataquack.
In addition to unlocking characters, you can also discover alternate costumes for the main roster by eating Dash Foods found outside food stalls across the map. So, whether you’re racing for characters or costumes, there’s plenty to discover in Mario Kart World.
